Awareness of 988 in Kentucky | |
In July 2022, the transition from the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL) 1-800-273-TALK (8255) to 988 began and provided an easy to remember three-digit phone number that gives callers access to local crisis services. Callers who are experiencing a mental health or other crisis are linked to trained crisis counselors, much like callers to 911 are linked with emergency services.
In April 2023, The Pew Charitable Trusts conducted a survey to determine awareness of 988 among adults nationwide. The survey found that approximately 13% of those surveyed knew about 988 and its purpose.
Based on the national survey, the Department for Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities and the Kentucky 988 Coalition, in partnership with REACH Evaluation created a survey to gauge awareness of 988 in Kentucky.
|
This short survey is anonymous and the responses collected will help us with future marketing efforts to ensure Kentuckians know how to access crisis services for mental health or substance use crises.
We respectfully ask for your participation.
Please, take a few moments to complete the survey found at this link:

Second, please share this survey with your friends, family, co-works, etc. so that our state can obtain as many responses as possible.
