Back to School Tips and Resources

As the back-to-school season approaches, it's natural for parents, students, and teachers to experience a range of emotions. Excitement, anticipation, and nervousness are common feelings that come with starting a new school year.

Whether it's the first day of kindergarten or the first day of high school, it's important to be prepared. Here are some helpful tips to ensure your student is ready for the first day of school:

1. Get organized: Help your student get organized by purchasing school supplies and a planner. Encourage them to write down important dates and deadlines.

2. Set a routine: Establish a consistent bedtime and morning routine a few weeks before school starts. This will help your student adjust to the new schedule.

3. Attend orientation: Attend orientation or open house events to familiarize yourself and your student with the school and its policies.

4. Communicate with teachers: Reach out to your student's teachers before the school year starts to introduce yourself and discuss any concerns or questions you may have.

By being prepared for the first day of school, your student will have a better chance of success throughout the school year.

National Wellness Month

National Wellness Month is celebrated in August and focuses on self-care, stress management, and healthy habits.

Here are some ideas for celebrating National Wellness Month in 2024:

  1. Make a commitment - Take the "I Choose Wellness" Pledge to publicly commit to your wellness journey.
  2. Slow down - Try deep breathing, meditation, or binaural beats to help you relax and listen to your body.
  3. Improve your health - Focus on nutrition, prioritize sleep, and practice mindfulness. You can also try a daily fitness challenge or nutritional seminar.
  4. Connect with others - Join a group with a shared interest, like a book club, hiking group, or theater troupe. You can also help out at a community garden or park.
  5. Support mental health - You can introduce wellness initiatives at your workplace, like guided meditation workshops.
