Three things from ATI

Tuesday, 9 July 2024

Hope everyone had the Fourth of July they wanted! In Haiti and Haiti North (me), we're grateful to have escaped Hurricane Beryl relatively unscathed.

Political update: Here's an article in the NYT about Haiti's new leader. Paywalled? Read a text-only version on our blog.

Electricity Repairs

Our solar-powered water & electric system needs maintenance. Security is more important than ever and local police have requested we get the lights on asap. This system is also how we filter the drinking water. We need $1,000.

Help us turn the lights back on

Another meds update

When I asked for medication funds, your response was so generous we had enough left over for the next bulk purchase of supplies. That need came yesterday. Because of you I was able to respond immediately!

We'll take the win!

Thanks for your prayers for protection from Hurricane Beryl. We sustained damage but not utter devastation as we have in the past.

Thank you, Bondye!

Haitian Creole lesson

hurricane = siklòn (pro. same as cyclone)

wind = van or va (pro. va)

rain = lapli (lah-plee)

a lot = anpil

anpil van or anpil lapli are phrases Samuel often uses to describe the weather to me.
