2024 AIA Indiana Design and Service Awards Call for Submissions – All AIA Indiana member architects in good standing who have led the design of completed projects inside or outside of Indiana are invited to compete for Honor, Merit, and Citation Design Awards. Also, AIA member architects outside of Indiana in good standing and who are responsible for the lead role in designing projects located in Indiana are invited to compete. If a project had both a design architect and an architect-of-record, submissions must include the names of both. The awards will be presented during the AIA Indiana Convention on Friday, August 16 at the 16 Tech Innovation District, in downtown Indianapolis. Newly Licensed Architect & Landscape Architect Ceremony - Presented by AIA Indiana & ASLA Indiana - The Newly Licensed Architect & Landscape Architect Ceremony, which recognizes those earning their license in the calendar year of 2023, was held on March 16 at the Indiana War Memorial in downtown Indianapolis. At one time, the state performed this ceremony each year for newly licensed architects and landscape architects but ceased the practice roughly 18 years ago. AIA and ASLA are proud and happy to have revived this important event and will continue performing this service each year. Thank you to 2024 AIA Indiana Past President Dan Overby, AIA, LEED Fellow, WELL AP, for providing the commencement address. Indiana University J. Irwin Miller Architecture Program Lecture Series - The J. Irwin Miller Architecture Program Lecture and Exhibition Series brings prominent working artists and architects to Columbus. Lectures take place in the auditorium and exhibitions in the gallery, both located within The Republic Building, 333 2nd Street in Columbus. University of Notre Dame School of Architecture Spring Lecture Series - All spring 2024 lectures will be delivered in person and virtually via Zoom at 5:15 pm on Wednesdays unless otherwise noted. The School of Architecture’s Lecture Series provides a venue for students, faculty, and the larger community, to engage in critical thinking about architecture and urbanism. ABI February 2024 - This is the closest to 50 that the ABI score has been since last July (a score over 50 indicates billings growth) and suggests that the recent slowdown may be receding. In addition, inquiries into new projects grew at their fastest pace since November, and the value of newly signed design contracts increased as well. This is just the fourth time that design contracts have increased in the last year and is a good indicator that work at firms may begin picking up in the coming months. CLICK HERE to learn more.

YAF-LFRT Future Forward Grant - A project presented by the Large Firm Roundtable (LFRT) and AIA Young Architects Forum (YAF), the Future Forward grant supports students, emerging professionals, and early-career architects in testing new ideas that disrupt the traditional conception of practice, process, and product in the field of architecture. 2024 AAJ Conference: Call for Proposals - Designing for Change: Architects Transforming the Justice System - This year’s conference, which is scheduled for September 25-27 in Kansas City, MO, will explore how architects are using design to reshape justice spaces and enhance access to justice for all individuals. Foundation for Health Environments Research (FHER) Fellowships: SLS Next Generation Scholarship - The AIA Academy of Architecture for Health (AAH) and the American College of Healthcare Architects (ACHA) will select up to two emerging professionals seeking licensure, or newly licensed, to be chosen as 2024 Summer Leadership Summit (SLS) Next Generation Scholars. The SLS is an annual gathering of health care design leaders from the U.S. and around the world. Each selected recipient will receive complimentary registration for the summit, $1,500 towards travel/hotel and be recognized during the event. 2024 Small Project Design (SPD) Knowledge Community Grant Program - The SPD advisory committee is pleased to announce the 2024 Small Project Design Knowledge Community Grant. The purpose of this grant is to provide financial support for nonprofit organizations working with architects on community-based projects. Along with supporting the work of nonprofit organizations, we want to demonstrate the value of hiring an architecture firm (and AIA member) for community projects, by helping cover some of the costs associated with hiring the design team.
