Hello and thank you for helping Build the Kingdom of God through Cristo Rey Orlando. I have been encouraged and inspired by the tremendous community support to make this school a reality for students with limited economic resources. I am grateful to have been called to this role as Feasibility Study Director and look forward to seeing the many ways the Lord works through us.

We held our first meeting with committee members and welcomed many more to the team who are sharing their varied and unique gifts in service of this mission. Thank you to those who were able to join us and set goals for the coming months. A special thank you to our committee chairs who will keep moving these individual efforts forward:

Committee Updates

Our Site Committee is touring a few available properties in Orlando that would be convenient to families who would qualify for Cristo Rey Orlando. Not only does the site needs to be close to families, but also to the corporations who are sponsoring the jobs. This committee has done a significant amount of research on demographics of the Orlando area to choose the best locations Cristo Rey Orlando High School.

Our Jobs Committee is meeting this week to create a strategic plan for contacting businesses and obtaining letters of intent (LOIs) to provide jobs.

Their plan is to begin scheduling meetings with corporate leaders in the coming weeks.

If you know any business leaders who may be interested in learning more about our Corporate Work Study program, let us know!

Our Community Surveys Committee has met with principals from some of our Catholic elementary schools. We are also working with Orange County Public Schools to meet 5th and 6th graders and their families. We are building relationships with community leaders to learn more about those who will learn in Cristo Rey Orlando!

Our Religious Community Committee is in conversation with a religious order who is actively discerning sponsorship for our school. More information to come soon!

The committee is also reviewing the Catholic identity standards of Cristo Rey to consider various ways this will come to life in the daily experience of our students and families.

Our Fundraising Committee is still looking for a chairperson. We are 20% to our goal of raising $5 million in operating expenses and we also need to raise capital funds for our school building.
