SCF's 2nd Annual Maverick’s Backpacks and Brunch

Venice and Bradenton campuses

State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will host its second Maverick’s Backpacks and Brunch from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, July 27, at both SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W., and SCF Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail. Local students and their families are welcome to attend this free event featuring Maverick the Manatee, games, SCF program booths, brunch treats and distribution of backpacks and supplies needed for a happy, healthy school year.

Registration is open online. Each child must be registered (RSVP) to receive a guaranteed backpack.

The community is invited to support this fun-filled event by donating backpacks, hygiene products, notebooks, pens and other essential back-to-school items or volunteering to assist with brunch, activities or other event services.

To view and purchase school supplies, visit the Amazon registry.

To apply and sign up to volunteer, visit the SCF Foundation website.

SCF served brunch to more than 1,000 community members and distributed more than 550 backpacks and 12,000 supplies to attendees during last year’s event at SCF Bradenton. The college’s faculty, staff and community are proud to again provide this direct relief of necessary, basic school supplies supporting students’ education, personal care and wellness.

For questions about how to register or support the event, contact Madeline Mangas, SCF community outreach coordinator, at MangasM@SCF.edu or 941-752-5336.
