Gourmet Tuscany Group - April 2024

TRAVELING SOLO.

This was my very first trip traveling by myself. I know it does not look as if I’m traveling solo. That’s me in the blue scarf with the sunglasses on the left. This is the great group of senior travel buddies that I traveled with on my Gourmet Tuscany tour by Cosmos in April. We went from Florence Italy to Montecatini Italy, the heart of Tuscany, and we ate a lot. Some of the food we made ourselves at a Tuscan Farmhouse tour, as well as a special dessert demonstration at our hotel. Were there wine tastings? Oh yes. Three. Our 7 day tour was so fabulous that I’m probably going to go again April 2025. Though I traveled solo to get to Florence, I met some of the group at our Florence hotel, and then we went on to start our tour in Tuscany. Traveling solo has been so liberating, and even though touring with a group, I had plenty of free time to ‘shop and wander’ by myself.

Gourmet Tuscany April 20 - 27, 2025!

Yes, we are doing this one again....come along with us.

We are excited about this trip because we know how special it is. On the tour you spend 7 nights in the same hotel, with excursions from the hotel in Montecatini, the heart of Tuscany. From there you explore wineries (of course) farm to table fun experiences, villages and towns you've only read about, and time to shop. There are spaces for solo travelers, not sharing a room, but they must be booked early to get the spots available. Visit the link below and enjoy. Four Day Florence Extension to Gourmet Tuscany Tour

Florence Extension. Dates: April 27 to May 1, 2025

Note: This extension is not finalized but it is getting close!

Monique and Pat, as well as our new admin, Debbie, are designing the tour and our tour director will be our own Debbie Dotson. Custom tour just for My Senior Travel Buddies.

Our hotel is: Cellai Boutique Hotel in the heart of Florence. Solo rooms are available but are going quickly.

PROSPECTIVE ITINERARY:

Today we will travel to Florence. In the afternoon, there will be a walking tour of Florence (approximately 2 hours).

Today lunch and dinner will be on your own, but there will be a tour meet and greet at the hotel in the early evening.

Optional Day Tour (cost TBD)

We will embark early in the morning to travel to Cinque Terre as a group.

Head to the Italian Riviera on a day trip from Florence to the Cinque Terre, a UNESCO World Heritage site comprising five cliffside villages perched dramatically on the sea. After the drive from Florence, you’ll travel by boat (weather dependent) and short easy train rides to the villages of Monterosso, Vernazza, and either Riomaggiore or Manarola. You'll also have free time to enjoy the beach or to explore the workshops of local artisans. Enjoy beautiful views of Cinque Terre Walk through the colorful fishermen's villages Enjoy boat rides and the Mediterranean Sea in this picturesque area of Italy seen in many movies.

This is going to be at least a 12-hour day and will require a moderate physical fitness level, there are uneven surfaces, stairs, and a lot of walking involved.

If you choose to stay in Florence, you’ll have the day to enjoy the sites on your own or make your own plans.

Museum Day!! Tickets will be provided.

There will be skip-the-line and/or guided tours today of the Uffizi Gallery, which contains some of the world’s most famous Renaissance masterpieces, and Accademia Gallery, home of Michelangelo's 'David' statue. We will do one in the morning and one in the afternoon!

Lunch on your own, but suggestions will be provided for convenient locations nearby.

Group Dinner this evening at a specially chosen restaurant that will delight you with a true Italian dining experience.

Today, we will visit the Duomo Cathedral, Ponte Vecchio, and the Market Place for a day of fun and sightseeing. Tickets will be provided for the attractions which require admission.

Lunch/Dinner on your own, suggestions will be provided.

Transfers to the airport (extra charge) will be provided, or make your own arrangements
