Autonomy and Positioning goes off road for precision agriculture
Hexagon’s Autonomy and Positioning division has launched its first autonomy positioning and sensing kits for the agriculture market and validated these solutions in its new autonomous research and development tractor.

Through collaboration between its leading brands NovAtel and AutonomouStuff, the autonomous positioning and sensing kits were developed as part of Hexagon’s Smart Autonomous Mobility solutions portfolio launched at CES in early 2020. With decades of expertise in GNSS positioning, autonomy and safety-critical applications, NovAtel and AutonomouStuff created these solutions with agriculture machinery OEMs and robotic machinery manufacturers in mind.

“We’re excited to use this tractor as a platform to validate the human identification, obstacle detection and enhanced environmental awareness that our sensing kits add to our assured positioning solutions in agriculture," said John Buszek, VP of products and services at Hexagon | AutonomouStuff.

Autoware and Open Autonomy Pilot get a second look in Velocity
Every year, Hexagon's Autonomy and Positioning division releases Velocity magazine to highlight customer stories and technological breakthroughs; this year is no different.

Our Velocity 2020 magazine spotlights the autonomous tractor developed in collaboration between NovAtel and AutonomouStuff, both part of Hexagon. This technological breakthrough is the culmination of our expertise in GNSS positioning and sensor fusion

This year's issue also features Autoware.AI software upgraded by AutonomouStuff through the Open Autonomy Pilot and other advanced applications of positioning and autonomy technology.

Webinar Q&A: Putting the 'C' in CAV
Cohda Wireless joined AutonomouStuff in September for a webinar — Putting the 'C' in CAV — exploring the current state and potential of Connected Autonomous Vehicle technology.

Chief Technical Officer Paul Alexander detailed how Cohda Wireless hardware and software enables vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2X) communication to give vehicle perception systems unprecedented awareness of the surrounding environment — including detection of vehicles and pedestrians not in line of sight.

Several participants posed questions during the webinar that could not be addressed due to time constraints, so Paul followed up with written responses in a Q&A blog post.
Upcoming webinar: World Safety Summit miniseries by Velodyne Lidar
Velodyne Lidar will host a series of webinars leading up to its all-virtual World Safety Summit on October 22 — and Bobby Hambrick, AutonomouStuff founder and Chief Autonomy Officer for Hexagon's Autonomy and Positioning division, will be part of both!

Bobby will be the featured guest on a webinar scheduled for Oct. 2 to discuss what it takes to get autonomous vehicles on the road and his role for the World Safety Summit.
