Carla Sloan Retires; Board to Appoint John Becvar as Supervisor

After 11 years as River Forest Township Supervisor and 3 years as Clerk, Carla Sloan is retiring. Her successor will be John Becvar, who served the past year as Township Clerk. Sloan will spend more time with her family including a grandchild who arrived April 15.

Township Seeks New Clerk

The Township is seeking a River Forest resident to fill the upcoming vacancy as the Township Clerk. The position is a part-time, paid position averaging 5 hours per week who attends the Tuesday Board meetings.

Seeking Volunteers for the Youth and Family Services Committee

Are you looking for other ways to get involved in your local community? The Township is seeking two River Forest residents to fill vacancies on the Youth & Family Services (YFS) Committee. The YFS Committee meets the first Wednesday of most months and provide input into funding local programming for youth and families. Contact Supervisor@RiverForestTownship.org if you're interested.

Youth Summer Scholarships

Are you in need of financial support to help pay for your child’s summer programs? River

Forest Township can help. The Township offers need-based scholarships for youth

residents aged 5-17. Scholarships usually require cost-sharing between the family, the

Township, and the program. Inquire at the program to see if you qualify.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

River Forest Township annually funds 17,000 hours of mental health and disabilities

services to residents. May is a dedicated time for communities and organizations to

recognize and share the message that mental health matters. Look for the mental health awareness campaign in the Wednesday Journal each week during May, sponsored by River Forest Township and our community partners.
