The River Forest Township Board of Trustees appointed John Becvar as the new Township Supervisor at the May meeting. Township Trustee Keith Strom, shown on the right, congratulates John after administering the Oath of Office. John previously served as the Township Clerk so that same evening Margaret Detmer was appointed as the new River Forest Township Clerk.

Are you looking for ways to get involved in your local community? The Township is seeking a River Forest resident to fill a vacancy on the Mental Health Committe (MHC). The MHC meets the first Tuesday of most months and provide input into funding local programming for behavioral health and I/DD agencies. The Township is seeking a River Forest resident to fill a vacancy on the joint Senior and Disability Committee with Oak Park Township. The committee meets the third Wednesday of most months and provides feedback and advocacy on the programming for seniors. The Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) offers free consultations for those wishing to discuss their Medicare needs with a trained specialist. In-person appointments are now available July 26 and August 30 in the River Forest Township office (8020 Madison St., 2nd Floor) in addition to ongoing phone appointments. Advance appointments are required and usually last one hour. Call (708)-383-8060.

Our Township transportation bus can take River Forest seniors and individuals with disabilities to the Oak Park Farmers Market 8AM-1PM for a $1 suggested donation. The farmers market is every Saturday 7AM-1PM through October 26. Located in the Pilgrim Church parking lot (460 Lake St., Oak Park), participants can enjoy locally grown and sourced produce, along with monthly events.
