City Manager’s Note

Hello Neighbors,

Welcome to the Weekly, your source for News in the Town of Los Altos Hills.

We are still just over 610 subscribers of the Weekly since our last publication. Thank you for spreading the word by having your neighbors, LAH friends, and affiliates sign up. We share important news that your neighbors need to know.

Lets get started...

Last weeks storms were ones for the history books. Learn more.

This last Monday was Mayor Mok's first Monthly Office Hour from 11-12 at the Duxberry Room at Town Hall. If you are interested in meeting with Mayor Mok join him the first Monday of every month.

We have some updates to share with you regarding our AV system upgrade which is nearly complete and ready for the February 15th CC Meeting.

Also, your maintenance crew has been hard at work through the night AGAIN clearing roads and maintaining our storm drain system. Check out the Public Works updates below to learn more.

Keep reading for coming events.

A Report from the Sheriff's Department is below.

We also have another reminder from the Fire District.

See you around Town.

Warm Regards,

Peter

1. Magnitude of the Storm last week

According to PG&E, this week’s winter storm has been the largest single storm, producing multiple customer outages in nearly 30 years, affecting more than 1.4 million customers. High gusts and strong sustained winds have caused an incredible amount of damage across PG&E service area, including breaking or toppling 728 poles, requiring technicians to restring or repair more than 2,000 spans of powerlines, and damaging or destroying 357 cross arms and 247 transformers.

In the end, as much as we want to recognize the magnitude of this storm we understand how impactful this last storm was to homes that were affected. Even though power was restored to many homes before 8 pm on February 7, we share your concern and have voiced our belief that PG&E should take the lead in creating a more resilient system.

PG&E is planning to come to a council meeting to provide a complete summary of events and response to the January atmospheric river storm that caused the blackout along Page Mill. We will post more details in a future City Council agenda as well as in the Weekly.

Stay tuned and remind those that are interested to subscribe to this weekly
