The Good Turn Weekend for Tamarancho was a huge success!

The Marin Council Camping & Properties Committees hosted several Scouts BSA units who joined dedicated volunteers from OA Talako Lodge in giving back to the local Camp Tamarancho we all love and adore by "doing a good turn" with camp service projects. It's been almost a year now since the Iron Springs Road landslide effectively shut down our beautiful property to daily vehicular traffic. Everyone backpacked in to tent camp for the weekend, helping us beautify the property by clearing heavy brush and downed trees as well as invasive Scotch broom in campsite areas from Sunrise to Upper Eagle plus the Chapel, and removing railroad ties and tent platforms for rebuilding Pioneer campsite near the center of camp.

Special Thanks to Marin Troops 15, 48, 200 and 2000 for taking part in this important renewal project akin to Spring cleaning! Everyone joined together with the NYLT Staff on Saturday for an outdoor picnic lunch and evening campfire program. It's was great to see eveyone take pride in our amazing resource and make Tamarancho great again!

Cub Scout Summer Day Camp is Two Weeks in July by the Bay!

Summer Day Camp is the highlight of a Cub Scout's year! Our annual Cub Scout Day Camp Weeks are July 8-12 and July 22-26, and this year we are excited to welcome your child to our great outdoor adventures when we will be at an exciting bay shore location: McNears Beach County Park (201 Cantera Way, San Rafael). Day Camp fun is open to any Cub Scout youth who will be entering the Second through Fifth grades in the 2024/25 school year. National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)

June 16-22 at Camp Tamarancho

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is an intensive week-long BSA leadership training

course conducted in an outdoor setting. As members of an NYLT patrol, Scouts BSA and

Venturing youth learn the tools of leadership, communication, problem solving, ethical

decision-making and much more --- experiencing the Patrol Method of Scouting first-hand while they camp, cook, eat, work and learn together.

NYLT is a six-day course held June 16-22, 2024 at Camp Tamarancho. It is recommended that all youth have participated in Scout camping at least one year. NYLT is not an outdoor skills course specifically, so it is important that each participant have basic camping and outdoor cooking experience. Click here for more information and to register your Scout, or contact NYLT Course Director Erik Masterson by email!

Wood Badge Training is 2 Weekends in September!

Wood Badge registration is now open! This top adult training event takes place over two weekends at Camp Tamarancho this Fall: September 6-8 and September 28-29. Wood Badge is the ultimate adult leadership training program for volunteers involved in all levels of Scouting (Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturing BSA, and Council levels). It's not just training, it's a leadership experience! Participate in the one Scouting tradition that exists in every corner of the world! Learn about yourself and others! Develop leadership skills! Make lifelong friends! Learn more by contacting by email Course Director Tom Denson or register here today!

A Monthly News Bulletin for OA Lodge Members

Our Spring Fellowship event kicked off last month with a Saturday rally at the Rebounderz indoor fun center in Rohnert Park to officially welcome all of the new Arrowmen into our Lodge! During our monthly May Lodge meeting, Mr. Coronado taught youth and adults how to set up a Tipi! Talako members participated in the Good Turn for Tamarancho Weekend and on NYLT Staff development. Finally, we close out our busy year with the annual Talako pool party and BBQ for all lodge members at the San Rafael Elks Lodge starting at 6pm, Tuesday, June 4th.
