Meet our Volunteer of the Month:
Nancy Ellsworth
I have been a volunteer for more than 10 years. Volunteering has changed how I see the library because prior to being a volunteer, I viewed libraries as places to only check out books, our library is so much more! I observe people using computers, tutoring in study rooms, attending classes and events, purchasing from the Friends Shop and borrowing varied materials (now including puzzles). Our library has become a community center, with spaces for every age and need. I see a forward-thinking staff frequently implementing new ideas.
I love the variety in volunteering here and my favorite moments have been working with new volunteers (as a retired educator, this is very satisfying) and helping patrons locate what they need. But I also enjoy the daily routine of processing materials. I like that the staff is kind to all library users and makes every volunteer feel appreciated. I enjoy being busy and useful, which is an apt description of this volunteer job!
