City Manager’s Note

Hello Neighbors,

Welcome to the 44th edition of the Weekly for 2023 and Happy Veteran's Day.

We have 520 subscriptions of the Weekly and growing. Thank you for spreading the word by having your neighbors, LAH friends, and affiliates sign up. We share important news that your neighbors need to know.

Let's get started...

First and foremost, heartfelt thank you to all our veterans on this day.

Special thanks to Steve Schmidt and our EIC for helping spread the word about electrification. Don't miss out on an early holiday gift - to yourself.

Only 51 days until the end of the year and the community events just keep coming.

Not mentioned but yesterday staff had their annual Wellness kickoff where we incentivize is our staff making healthy investments toward their wellbeing. Monday, we have our annual staff Friends giving and on December 12 we host our staff holiday luncheon. It's a time for eating, celebrating, and sharing each other's company.

I don't want to jinx us so I will just say we have nothing to report about residential burglaries.

Again, mark your Calendars for December 5th at 6PM for a town-sponsored Public Safety Event featuring SCC Sherrif leadership, Flock Safety (ALPR Vender), Genesis Security (Private Security provider), and Town leadership.

We have a few updates from LAHCFD including: the CERT Training event held this past week, a reminder about the Robleda-Burke Area Evacuation Route Project, and a gentle nudge not to overlook smoke alarms.

Leadership teams of FHDA and the Town met to talk about housing. Very Exciting!

Please join us in welcoming Hyun "Sunny" Hong to our staff.

Don't forget we have a council meeting on Monday, November 13

That was a long and productive week.. I think we need a nap!

See you around Town!

1. A Grateful Salute on Veterans Day

As we embrace the spirit of gratitude this Veterans Day, I wish to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the courageous men and women who have served and continue to serve in the defense of our nation. Their unwavering commitment is a beacon of inspiration for us all.

In the same breath, I want to express sincere thanks to our local service workers who tirelessly contribute to the betterment of our community. Your dedication, often behind the scenes, shapes the foundation of our shared experiences and enhances our collective well-being.

On this special day, let us pause to reflect on the sacrifices made by our veterans and the ongoing contributions of our service workers. Your commitment does not go unnoticed, and we are grateful for the positive impact you have on the Town.

With deep appreciation,

Peter Pirnejad

City Manager

2. Electrification lncentives

Did you know you can get big Incentives to Electrify your Water Heater?

For most homes in Los Altos Hills, gas water heaters are the second largest source of greenhouse gases after gas furnaces. Slash your greenhouse gas footprint by electrifying your water heater today!

New TECH Clean CA rebates for heat pump water heaters (HPWHs) launched last week, and include the new 120 volt models. TECH offers $3,100 for smaller HPWHs, $3,800 for those over 55 gallons, and higher rebates are available for low-income homeowners. There's also a $2,000 rebate for some related electrical work (capped at 50% of the costs). Find a qualifying TECH contractor by entering your zip code here.

But wait, there's more!

SVCE also provides a "stackable" incentive of $2,000, and our town will add another $1,000 incentive if you act quickly.

Cleaner, healthier, efficient electric homes are the future, and these incentives are designed to help accelerate the transition.

Depending on your situation, you might end up getting back more in rebates than you will spend on the installation!

Smoke alarms save lives. Smoke alarms that are properly installed and maintained play a vital role in reducing fire deaths and injuries. Fire spreads fast-working smoke alarms give you early warning so you can get outside quickly.
