The annual Donor Scholar Brunch was held on Sunday, April 21 in the Mary Dooley College Center. This was the first time that the brunch was held in-person since 2019. The purpose of the event was to recognize donors who have established scholarships here at Elms College and the students who benefit from those scholarships. This academic year, over 160 students received scholarships, and 30 new scholarships were created since the last Donor Scholar Brunch was held in 2019. During the event, guests heard speeches from senior, Cecilia Sanchez ’24 an Early Childhood Education major, and from alum Charlene Zagrodnik ’71 who established the Gertrude and Charles Zagrodnik Endowed Scholarship in honor of her parents. | |
On Monday, March 18, Elms College hosted the play "Dear Neighbor," written by Sr. Jane Morrissey '62. With approximately 250 people in attendance, the play highlighted the stories of five women who helped shape the history of the Sisters of St. Joseph. We are so very grateful to our playwright, Sr. Jane Morrissey, and her editor, Pam Robbins '66, for inviting us into this history and playing the part of Sr. Mary Dooley. Huge kudos to Elizabeth Gourde '23, for directing the play! And many thanks to Elms students and faculty, Malina Woodbury, '26, Isamar Perez, '26, Olivia LeBlanc, '26, and faculty member Dr. Jasmine Hall, for portraying Sisters of St. Joseph throughout the years. Austin Porter, friend of the college, served as the narrator.
Much assistance was also provided by Tiffani Ashline, Director of Student Accommodations and Support Services, Teresa Kuta Reske, Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Director of the DNP Program, Curtis Maloney and Dan Kennedy of Media Services, and Stephen Walsh, Assistant Professor of Data Science.
For your pleasure, we are delighted to share with you the recorded play (below).
