Once again, Bixby is making history, this time on behalf of Play Me Tulsa.
The arts have always played an important role in Bixby, during the Green Corn Festival, the Bixby Art student entered the Optimist Club’s Poster contest. The winning poster is made into that year’s Green Corn T-Shirt. This year the High School Art department were involved in Play Me Tulsa; they were commissioned to paint a piano for Mayfest. The piano is back home now for all to enjoy through the end of September. The piano is at the Bixby Historical Society and sits proudly under the portico at Plummer’s Station, 27 E. Needles Ave., for everyone to enjoy and play a tune. From the Doughnut Shop Boys, Cory Kent White, to the Bixby Choir, music and art will always be a major part of the history of Bixby.
The piano is there for anyone and everyone to enjoy. Bring yourself or a group and play a tune. The piano is outside, and you may visit anytime during the day or evening. For more information call 918-366-1200. For information on Play Me Tulsa go playmetulsa.com.
