March 11-15 - March Break Drop-in Activities at the Minden Hills Cultural Centre.

The March Break Drop-in Programs will be held at Nature’s Place from 10:00am to 1:00pm every weekday during March Break. No pre-registration is required. Admission is by donation. Suitable for children from 5 to 12. Visitors are free to browse and play with the interactives at Nature’s Place.

Workshops

March 23rd - Animal Tracks and Scat presented by the Haliburton Highlands Land Trust

at Abbey Gardens. Children from ages 5-12 will enjoy hands-on activities and a walk outdoors led by Outdoor Educator Rick Whitteker. Event will begin indoors to learn how to identify tracks and scat, then move outdoors to explore and look for them in their natural environment. 10 a.m. – Noon. March 27 - Villains, Vendettas and Vagabonds - Join Ruth E. Walker for an online creative writing masterclass exploring the power of putting bad to work in your stories. Handouts, homework and hands-on exercises. Three two-hour sessions, starting at 6 p.m. March 27. More info.


April 11 & 13 - Paint Night at Ommmh Salon in Minden with artist Zachary Warne. People of any and all artistic abilities are welcome. More info.


May 13 - 17 - Creative Ways to Build Perspective, with Grethe Jensen. This is a 5-day workshop which explores contemporary ways to bring your paintings to life with depth and perspective. December 1 - March 31 - The ACHH's Art in Public Spaces committee presents its Ian Varney’s showcase at its new location The Link in partnership with HCDC. Ian Varney is a member of the Arts Council and the first to be featured in this new location. The Link is Haliburton’s new co-working/meeting location hotspot brought to the community by HCDC and is beautifully designed by ACM Designs.


February 10 - April 13 - "Dream" Annual Salon Exhibition at the Rails End Gallery. Reception February 10 in person at Rails End Gallery and Arts Centre.Virtual exhibition will also be hosted at www.railsendgallery.com 

Weekly Events

Tuesdays - The Knitting Village. Children between 11 and 14 are welcome to join the Knitting Village for free knitting lessons by an instructor. All knitting supplies and equipment will be provided. The lessons take place at the Cultural Centre between 3:30pm and 4:30pm the first three Tuesdays every month. The lessons are drop-in only. If parents wish to drop their children off, they are required to fill in a contact form.


Thursdays - After-School Crafts. 3-5pm, Minden Library. More info.


Fridays - Family Storytime, 10:15am at the Minden Library, 10:30am at the Dysart Library. More Info.

Opportunities

Call for Submissions - Haliburton Sculpture Forest's Downtown Haliburton Sculpture Exhibition(DHSE). Apply to this year's DHSE, a seasonal outdoor exhibition running from May 8 to October 24, 2024.
