"Construction is progressing on the unique 1510 Webster Street project in Downtown Oakland. The six-story mid-building podium block showcases a mass timber framework combined with a concrete superstructure, distinguishing it from other structures. The developer and architect, oWow, aims to complete the 187-foot tall building by early 2024, with temporary occupancy available as early as October this year. The project will offer 222 rental units, including 35 affordable units, and will feature retail spaces, offices, and residential amenities spread across its 175,750 square feet.
oWow, known for its integrated approach to management and architecture, plans to create a visually appealing structure that complements the nearby historic YWCA building. The podium of 1510 Webster Street will be clad in terracotta or precast material, rising to a height of 65 feet, mirroring the YWCA's height. The tower levels will be covered with cream flush and white aluminum panels. This project marks oWow's second mass timber venture, with plans underway for an even taller mass timber tower at 1523 Harrison Street, featuring a 25-story tower with 361 units."
