And then many months later…love, good food and a caring home make all the difference!
“Gidget” came to me in August 2016 straight off of a super hot (August) dirty street, and looking very bad. The local Animal Control, run by the county, had picked her up and after the usual 10 day hold (in case someone was looking for her) she was spayed and given her shots BUT they needed someone to foster her while she was healing. They only had large crates and mostly dealt with pit bulls or labs in this area. The Vet who checked her out thought she had been used as a “puppy mill” breeder and thrown out because of her age estimated at 5 or 6 years. The local Officer knew I had had Yorkie’s and contacted me to see if I would foster her. Needless to say that after 6 weeks of loving care I would sign on as her forever home. My precious little girl passed away in May 2022 but I know that she had a wonderful 5+years before she went to the Rainbow Bridge. I rescued her but she rescued me…

And in just a few short months - she was beautiful again!

Saying Goodbye

I wanted to thank Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue for making for making it possible for me to have the joy of Mouse (Batman) for the past five years. We adopted Mouse from his foster mom in Sparks, Nevada in July 2017. Mouse passed away last Wednesday while on vacation with us at the Oregon Coast, he was running happily on the beach for a couple of days before he started to cough and experience distressed breathing. We brought him to the vet and they had a plan to give him oxygen and x-rays, but ten minutes later the vet's office called to say he had passed away during the stress of the "The General"of Sunset Dog Park, keeping all the big dogs in line. We miss Mouse and his dog sisters, Miasie and Clarabelle seem lost without him. I have had such nice support from the wonderful people and dogs of Sunset Park in Boise, Idaho, where Mouse made quite the presence and name for himself. Love you Mouse life is going to be so hard without you.

Thankyou for all you do for Yorkies

Mary Elizabeth's Corner

Hi Everyone,

October has kept me very busy with dogs here there and everywhere. Thank you to all of our volunteers that have been here to help, pick up, get to vets for check ups care and finding new forever homes. Thank you to our new volunteers for joining our group and wanting to help us save more of these adorable little creatures.

In Tennessee all of the trees have put on a beautiful display of rich colors that brighten the season with their splendor. The birds that stick around all year are returning to our window feeders and let us know when it's time to refill their supply of seeds. We even have a couple of very brave Woodpeckers that are coming by daily of course taking the food and stocking up for winter!

I got my flu and covid booster last week getting ready for my visit to spend a weekend in Boston with Danny and Kirsten in their new home (one year now) and the shots really knocked me for a loop. I returned to the doctor yesterday and hopefully I'll be back up and running before I need to leave.

Love to you all,

MaryElizabeth

Thank you to our donors for your continued support!!
