KlezCalifornia produces and co-presents events and supports the next generation of Yiddish culture leaders. Through The Yiddish Culture Fund, we are actively ibergebn di leytses (passing the baton) to a younger generation of Yiddish culture enthusiasts — and we are azoy tsufridn (so overjoyed) that this is happening!

KlezCalifornia's Board has made a $10,500 challenge grant! Every dollar you contribute to The Yiddish Culture Fund will be doubled! Please donate online today!

In this round of grants, The Yiddish Culture Fund has awarded:

• $3000 to Mike Perlmutter, Zina Pozen, Bruce Bierman, and Sarah Wolfman-Robichaud for the second year of Joy of Jewish Music and Dance, nine monthly events for instrumentalists and dancers: Sunday afternoons at the JCC East Bay, September 2024 - May 2025.

• $3,000 to Atid Kimelman and Eva Orbuch for Kol: a three-day Jewish music retreat. The 2024 Kol event brought together 140 young Jews for twenty workshops, two community song circles, and a participatory concert. Spring 2025.

• $1,500 to Freygl Gertsovski, Asa Brunet-Jailly, and Sarah Schneider to market the Queer Yiddish Camp to San Francisco Bay Area residents and support this online program, which is open to all. November 3 - 17, 2024.

• $750 to Binya Koatz, Aaron Goldstein, and Atid Kimelman for Borscht Bay Cabaret featuring musicians, comedians, and Yiddish performances of all kinds, capped off with a Yiddish dance party. Fall 2024.

Two new Board members are revitalizing KlezCalifornia's programming! Dmitri Gaskin, an accomplished 28-year-old composer, accordionist, and pianist, will hold master classes for klezmer instrumentalists this fall. The inimitable 44-year-old Yiddish singer Anthony Mordechai Tzvi Russell is connecting KlezCalifornia to the worldwide Yiddish community. We are thrilled to welcome both Yiddish culture leaders to the KlezCalifornia Board.

The Yiddish Culture Fund is creating a new generation of Yiddish cultural leaders — by supporting the programs they produce. Please give as generously as you can.
