A note from Professor Andy McAleer:
Earlier this month, WCAS professor and award-winning author of
The Charlestown Connection
Tom MacDonald, guest lectured to WCAS students in "Crime, Criminals, & the Courts." Prof. MacDonald discussed tips on crafting your first novel, mastering dialogue, setting, plotting, and pacing. He also spoke about his latest novel
The Revenge of Liam McGrew
.
"You are never too old to reach for your dreams," MacDonald said,
"I did not believe I could write a novel until receiving encouragement from my professors here at Boston College while studying for my MBA. This was well into my professional career.
I can think of no better institution of higher learning to believe in yourself, challenge yourself and to pursue your dreams than the Woods College of Advancing Studies."

Sarah Says
A piece of advice from longtime
WCAS Administrator Sarah Piepgrass:
To paraphrase American clergyman George Washington Burnap (1802-1859):
"The three grand essentials of happiness are: Something to do, something to love, and something to hope for."
I believe that students find all three at Woods College. WCAS embodies the indomitable spirit of Fr. Woods, the innovative progress of Fr. Burns, the wide-ranging knowledge of our faculty, and the caring guidance of our advisors. The choices you make, the friendships you cultivate, the networks you build, and the self-knowledge you gain will determine the directions you take when you leave BC. How exciting to know that when you graduate from Advancing Studies you will leave ready to share that same spirit, innovation, knowledge, and caring as you continue to grow and mature in the world.
