Meeting Discussion Items:
• SRC Parking Lot Landscaping – is complete and the plantings look healthy
• Cormorant Dispersal – very pleased with the outcome of the project. Lingering birds will continue to be “encouraged” to roost elsewhere. Getting plans in place for this season’s dispersal efforts.
• Invasive Plants in Common Areas – this project is ongoing. Very pleased with the “reach outs” from residents on the English Ivy removal suggestions mentioned the Woodlake Wildlife newsletter.
• Woodlake Wildlife Newsletter update – very pleased with the comments and suggestions from residents.
• Shoreline Update – will be back out on the water in late spring and early summer to document the shoreline.
• Earth Day Reminder – events planned for Residents Saturday, April 20 10:00 am at the parking areas across from the AFC.
• Beavers in Woodlake – committee decided, with input from residents in attendance, to continue to monitor beaver activity and address any actions (if needed) when the impact is creating a safety issue, an environmental issue or detrimental impact on property. It was noted that chainsaws create far more harm to trees in Woodlake than the beavers that reside in the community.
New Business:
The committee proposed a change in the language of the RPA policy re: the use of native plants in the RPA. This change will be presented to the board of directors for consideration.
The next Environmental & Maintenance Committee meeting will be June 13, 2024 at 7:00 pm.
