Tonight: Praise Team & Chancel Choir Rehearsals

Just a reminder that tonight the Praise Team will rehearse at 6:15 PM and Chancel Choir will rehearse at 7:30 PM.

Vacation Bible School is STELLAR!

We hope you will join us for this year’s Stellar Vacation Bible School experience Sunday, July 23rd - Thursday, July 27th for PreK - 5th grade! Each evening from 5:30pm to 8:00pm we will enjoy dinner together and then explore reasons to shine Jesus’s light in our world through Bible stories, crafts, music and games. We will explore how vast God’s love is for each and every one of His children and how we can show that love to others through our words and actions.

On Day One (Sunday) we will talk about how sometimes life can feel dark. Sometimes we feel sad and hopeless. Sometimes things aren’t how we hope they would be. Our Bible Buddy Cosmo will help us remember that even in these dark times we can shine Jesus’s light and see the hope that God gives us!

Day Two (Monday) will focus on times when life is going great, when we are happy, healthy, and filled with joy. Bible Buddy Luna will help us know that during these times it’s important to continue to shine Jesus’s light!

On Day Three (Tuesday) we will talk about how sometimes people are sad, circumstances can feel cold, and good things seem far away. Bible Buddy Sol reminds us that when people are sad, we are to shine Jesus’s light!

Our final regular day of VBS (Wednesday) will focus on how we can power up to help people in need. Bible Buddy Halley will teach us that when people need help, it’s our time to shine Jesus’s light!

We will round off our VBS week on Thursday evening with an out-of-this-world Family Block Party! Come eat dinner, play games, and enjoy a space-themed bouncy house beginning at 5:30pm in the parking lot. At 6:15pm, the offering challenge winners will douse the opposing team’s leader with water balloons; you won’t want to miss this! We will finish the night with a closing presentation featuring songs and Bible points from our week together.

We hope you can join us for this week of fellowship and fun! Register by clicking here.

A Message from the Finance Committee:

The Finance Committee would like to thank the congregation for their dedication in providing financial support to the church. The General Fund (Budget) is used to pay the operating expenses of the church. Through the end of May, we had received 96% of our expected Budget offerings for the first eight months of the current budget year.

Our offerings tend to decline in the summer with members away for vacations and other activities. Please remember that the church's expenses continue during this time. Even when you are unable to be present, it is possible to make your offering through the church's website or by mail. If you are uncomfortable in donating through the church's website, you can do so directly through your financial institution. Please contact your bank or credit union and let them know that you would like to set up one-time or automatic, recurring giving to your church, and they can assist you in this process. Questions? Contact Carrie Tolley, our Finance Administrator, at 540-343-7685.

CBF Offering for Global Missions

Thank you for your contributions to the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF) Offering for Global Missions, which funds the long-term "presence" (salary, benefits, housing, living expenses, and children's educational needs) of CBF field personnel. Please continue to help us meet our church goal of $2,200. There is a gold envelope in your box of envelopes designated for this ministry, or you may notate "Offering for Global Missions" on a regular offering envelope, on your check, or in the memo of your online offering.

Bible Reading Plan

We've made it to 1 Kings, and we're in the middle of all the details about Solomon's temple. I am a visual learner, so I really have trouble grasping the intricacies of the temple without some type of image/diagram as a guide. The NRSV Cultural Backgrounds Study Bible (Zondervan, 2019) provides both images and historical insight that helps us understand more about the temple. See the pictures below, and click here for a reprint on the article "Architecture of the Temple."

Please be aware that the church's phone carrier will be doing maintenance on their system next Monday, July 17th, and the church office may potentially experience some phone outages. If you try to call us and cannot get through, please try again later. Thank you.

To My Church Family -

Thank you for remembering my 92nd birthday. I appreciate all the cards and your kind thoughts.
