Happy Memorial Day!

We pray for all those who lost their lives serving our country and peace and comfort to their families.

We hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. The office will be closed Monday May 29th in observation of Memorial Day.

St. Michael's Children & Youth Connection

St Michael's Theater Camp

St Michaels first Theater Day camp will be held June 19th-23rd and 26th-30th. We have students enrolled who are entering 2nd through 9th grade. High school students will be counselors. The campers will perform Annie kids! on June 30th at 5pm in Johnstone Hall.

It is so exciting to offer this opportunity for our entire congregation to support this new ministry, by attending the performance and for those who want to participate. We are looking for volunteers who can help with the meals for the campers during the week. This is a tangible way for St. Michael's to stand with Pastor Katie and the camp crew in welcoming and ministering to the more than 30 campers! They are youth and children from our neighborhood. Involvement can be as little as coming one or two days to help with meals during the two-week camp. Please connect with Pastor Katie if you have questions and want to volunteer.

Godly Play's Summer Break will begin Sunday, June 11th. The Nursery will remain open throughout the Summer. We will resume Godly Play in the fall on Sunday, September 10th.

St. Michael's Learns & Connects

Documentary & Discussion

In Person & Zoom

This month we will gather May 28 at 6pm in the Friendship Center and on Zoom for our Documentary and Discussion on Immigration. For those new to the group, we gather on the fourth Sunday of the month for a light supper, watch a documentary together, and continue with a discussion.

This will be our last Documentary and Discussion until September as we are going on Summer break. For more information please contact Pastor Katie.

Education for Ministry (EfM) is a program of theological study provided by the School of Theology of the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.

The study is done in a seminar class which meets once a week throughout the academic year, about 36 weeks, under the guidance of trained mentors.

This is a small “community” of learners studying together. Although the course materials provide substantial academic content, the focus is on life as ministry and understanding what that ministry may be. The first two years focus on the Old and New Testament, the third year on church history and the fourth year on ethics and philosophy.

EfM teaches how to think theologically and deepens faith and understanding of our Christian heritage. The bonds formed in this small learning community will be deep and long lasting. The program is non-denominational and St. Michael’s class is open to members of other Christian communities. We are now recruiting for the 2023-2024 academic year. If you would like more information, please contact Janice Bowdler, janbowdler@comcast.net , or Ellen Cehand, harbawe1961@gmail.com. Financial assistance is available.

Sacred Circle Labryinth Walk

St. Michael’s Annual Diaper Drive

Our 6th annual Mother’s Day Diaper Drive benefitting the clients at River City Food Bank is running until Sunday, June 4. Last year we supplied over 13,500 diapers to River City Food Bank, yet they still disappeared in a blink of an eye. This year we are challenging neighboring churches and communities to join us in this year's collections so we can work to double this number! We are grateful for any and all support.

There are a couple ways to support this outreach ministry if you choose to. You can contribute financially by dropping off or mailing a check to St. Michael’s (adding Diapers to the memo line) or making a donation online toward the Diaper Drive using the button below. Or, a St. Michael's favorite, bringing in box(es) of diapers (sizes 3 - 5 are especially in demand by the RCFB clients) to the St. Michael’s office on Sundays and throughout the week during office hours. Thank you for your continued support!

Choral Masterworks

by John Cozza, Music Director

The Creation by Joseph Haydn

The anthem sung by the choir this past Sunday, "The Heavens are Telling," is taken from the great oratorio of Haydn's "retirement", The CreationThe Creation (GermanDie Schöpfung) is an oratorio written between 1797 and 1798 by Joseph Haydn (Hob. XXI:2), and considered by many to be one of his masterpieces. The oratorio depicts and celebrates the creation of the world as described in the Book of Genesis.

The libretto was written by Gottfried van Swieten. The work is structured in three parts and scored for sopranotenor and bass soloists, chorus and a symphonic orchestra. In parts I and II, depicting the creation, the soloists represent the archangels Raphael (bass), Uriel (tenor) and Gabriel (soprano). In part III, the bass and soprano represent Adam and Eve.

The first public performance was held in Vienna at the old Burgtheater on 19 March 1799. The oratorio was published with the text in German and English in 1800.
