Congressional Items

The House and Senate are in session this week with business starting today for both chambers. Much of the conversations happening on the Hill revolve around FY 2025 spending bills and foreign aid. The House Appropriations Committee elected Congressman Tom Cole (R-OK-04) as their new chairman. Appropriations Subcommittees are in transition as new Subcommittee chairs are being named. NIHB shared our congratulations with the new Chairman, as he becomes the first Native American to hold the position of Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. You can read our letter to the Chairman here.

Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra will be on the Hill testifying on HHS’ budget proposal for FY 2025, first at a Senate Appropriations hearing on Tuesday, April 16th, and then at the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee on Wednesday, April 17th.
