BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT
The Chunky Scone
| |
A charming and delicious vegan bakery with a mission to make the world a better place, The Chunky Scone is celebrating two years of scrumptious scones in the Ravinia District! Owner Oscar Narvaez has been baking for over 15 years. He used to frequently drive through Ravinia and always thought the shop at 733 St. Johns would make a lovely bakery, especially as his home kitchen was running out of counterspace. When the Ravinia location became available, Narvaez took a leap and opened The Chunky Scone. Inside you will find an assortment of sweet and savory items including pizza rolls, Tres Leches, cinnamon rolls, empanadas, conchas, and of course, scones! Best of all, every single menu item is vegan, and many are also gluten-free. Narvaez and the team at The Chunky Scone host regular popups featuring local Chicagoland vegan chefs: introducing a wide range of vegan items to vegans and non-vegans alike, and challenging the assumption about what vegan food has to look or taste like.
Bonus: Head to The Chunky Scone on April 21 from 11 AM - 4 PM for $2.22 scones, even more vegan baked goods from Mindful Baking, and two flavors of vegan soft serve: Ube and a surprise flavor!
