Just Ten Tickets Remain for September Beach Bash;

Don't Miss Out -- Buy Yours Here Now

Only ten tickets are available for the Y’s Men 2024 End of Summer Beach Bash. Event organizers urge that you act fast to purchase tickets for yourself and your significant other for the Bash on Tuesday, September 10, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Jacky Durrell Pavilion at Fairfield Town Beach.

The Pavilion is an open air covered facility with a deck opening out to the beach with ample tables and seating. Check it out at Jacky Durrell Pavilion.

The Beach Bash promises to be bigger and better this year. There will be a fully catered barbecue including wine and beer with a band. There also will be door prizes, dancing, best Hawaiian shirt contest, a Danceathon, Rock & Roll Trivia, and perhaps a Hula Hoop contest.

Limited to 110 people, the Bash has sold out quickly as it did last year. The cost is $55.00 per person. Click here to review the tempting menu that will be offered.

Click the Pay Now button below to sign up and pay by credit card. You can also pay by check made out to the Y’s Men of Westport/Weston. Mail payments to Y’s Men of Westport/Weston, Box 167, Westport 06881-0167.

Volunteer help is needed for checking in attendees and for bar tending. No heavy work or clean up is involved. Let Dewey Loselle know if you can help.

Because the pavilion is covered, the Bash will be held rain or shine.

To volunteer, or for any questions, contact Dewey Loselle at DeweyLoselle@gmail.com or 203 454-4171.

 GIDG Resumes Meeting Schedule Tomorrow

After a break in its every other week meeting schedule, the Global Issues Discussion Group returns with a meeting scheduled for tomorrow (Monday, August 26) at 9:00 am in Rooms 203/204 in the Saugatuck Congregational Church.

At its last meeting (on July 29) the Group decided to discuss Russia. Since then, the Ukrainian incursion into Russia has introduced a new element into the conflict. It is expected that the effects of the incursion will generate a lot of discussion, especially on the risk/reward involved.

For additional information about GIDG, contact Peter Chelico at pecysmen@gmail.com.

Ping Pong Group Plays Mondays from 2:30 to 4:00 pm

The Y's Man Table Tennis/Ping Pong Group meets Mondays at the Westport Center for Senior Activities from 2:30 to 4:00 pm. The Group invites Y's Men to join them. They promise:

  • Skill level is unimportant.
  • There's lots of laughter and fun.
  • Mostly singles are playing now, but doubles are likely as the Group grows.
  • Sessions may last about two hours or longer.

It doesn’t matter if, or how long ago, you stretched to hit that little ball – just come on down and have a good time with other members!

Lt. Jillian Cabana

Deadline This Tuesday To Apply

For Westport Citizens' Police Academy

The Westport Police Department will be offering a Citizens’ Police Academy starting on Thursday, September 19, according to Lt. Jillian Cabana, who has appeared at several Y's Men meetings. Deadline for submitting applications for the Academy is this Tuesday, August 27.

Participants will gain a better understanding of the role of the police department in the community. This class provides an opportunity for citizens and police officers to get to know one another and discuss issues that affect the community.

Classes meet Thursday evenings at Police Headquarters from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm for eight sessions (except for the week of September 29 when they meet Tuesday, October 1, and except for October 31 because of Halloween).

Here are the direct links to a summary of the course and the application form. Please print the blank application first, then fill it out and take it to WPD, or e-mail it to Lt. Cabana.
