This month we celebrate National Volunteer Week from April 21-27. National Volunteer Week was established in 1974 by President Richard Nixon through an executive order which dedicated a week to honoring volunteers. Nixon recognized the importance of volunteerism and saw the need to celebrate those who selflessly give their time to make a difference. Today, National Volunteer Week continues to inspire individuals of all ages and backgrounds to get involved and give back to their communities. From organizing community clean-up events to coaching youth and supporting those in need, National Volunteer Week is the perfect time to showcase your dedication to making a difference.
As we celebrate National Volunteer Week, we take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the amazing volunteers who selflessly dedicate their time, skills, and passion to making a difference with M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George's County. Throughout the week, we will highlight the stories and experiences of some of our remarkable volunteers. Their journeys remind us of the power of volunteerism. Stay tuned to our social media channels as we share their impactful stories.
Whether you're a seasoned volunteer or looking to get involved for the first time, there are countless ways to observe this special week and make a meaningful impact. Here are some ideas on how to observe National Volunteer Week:
