A MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT DEBBY CANTER
|
"Passion without purpose is like a shot without a target."
- Ifeanyi Enoch Onuoha
Our recent Leadership Conference served four purposes:
- Our incoming chapter presidents had an opportunity to gather important information to help them during their biennium. If you were unable to attend, you can find some of the training handouts on the OSO website.
- Our outgoing chapter presidents were able to attend the Spring Executive Board Meeting to finish out their biennium and be recognized for their service to their chapters.
- Our members had a chance to share some laughs and reconnect as we had not been able to hold a convention since 2019.
- We were able to use some of the funds that the hotel has been holding for over two years. Costs were also cut by having two important meetings back to back.
The Executive Board Members voted with regret to accept the dissolution of Alpha Zeta Chapter. Also, funds were approved from the President’s Project to sponsor eighteen Girls ROX facilitators across the state. There is more information later in this issue.
This may have been a “one and done” event and may not be appealing to the next state president. The Admin Team will continue to look at options for training and meetings. To everyone that helped in any way, thank you so much for serving the needs of the members and for your support.
To the outgoing chapter presidents, thank you so much for all you do for your chapters. I have appreciated all of the positive emails and it has been a pleasure working with you. I know you will continue to be an asset to your chapter.
To the incoming chapter presidents, I’m looking forward to working with you. As I said at training, don’t ever think that you are bothering me with questions or concerns. You are now part of the OSO Executive Board and I am here to help you.
The DKG International Convention will be held July 12-16 in New Orleans. I will be attending, along with First Vice President Melodie McGeee; our Parliamentarian, Joyce Jones-Weinkam; State Treasurer, Diana Haskell; and Past State President, Meier Bauer. If anyone else is attending, please contact me and let me know so we can arrange to meet once we arrive. If you have any thoughts on any of the amendments, please contact me before July 10. I will be voting on behalf of all of the OSO members, not just myself. Your input is valuable.
Enjoy your summer as it goes by all too fast!
Debby
