St. Veronica Catholic School

THE VIKING VOICE

September 14, 2023

FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK

Dear Viking Families:

One of the best parts of working in a Catholic school is the opportunity to see our Catholic values at work! Yesterday at Mass, our students were reminded of the impact St. Veronica has made on our Catholic community. She is best known for wiping the sweat from Jesus’ brow as he carried his cross to Calvary. However, her miracle is with us, even today. When St. Veronica wiped Jesus' brow, an image of Jesus’ face was imprinted on the cloth. The Veil of Veronica then traveled to Rome and was presented to the Roman Emperor Tiberius. This image is now known as the Holy Face of Jesus and is housed at St. Peter’s Cathedral in the Vatican.  As Catholics, we believe the veil possesses miraculous gifts, to quench thirst, cure blindness and raise people from the dead.

During Wednesday’s Mass, our 1st graders, new students and new staff of St. Veronica School were presented with a Holy Face of Jesus medal. It contains the same image that is on the Veil of Veronica, and offers us a chance to connect to the patron saint of our school. Please join me in praying for the students and staff of our school, as they wear this image and remember that Jesus is with them always. May this gift from St. Veronica, be forever held in our hearts.

God bless,

Stephanie

Walkathon Update

The 2023 Walkathon is rolling forward into week 3, and we are about halfway to our goal of $35,000 raised for critical STEM and after-school programs.

I'm happy to report that every class has met the minimum 20% participation and dollars raised goal.

But there is still much work to be done!

To date, we have 65% of students registered, and 53% with a pledge.

If you have not already done so, please make sure your child is registered at www.mybooster.com

Signing up is easy and allows you and your child to share a link to friends and family through text and email, as well as social media.

Once registered, let everyone know that making any sized donation helps our school and our students.

Our top donor so far has raised over $800, with our top 10 students raising over $300 each!!

Remember that our top 2 students this year receive a Kings Island Gold Pass.

There are many more raffles and prizes, so make sure you try to raise as much as you can to be eligible.

Be sure to stop by Gold Star Chili on Wednesday, September 20th and support St. Veronica PTO and our 2023 Walkathon! Details below!
