Volunteer Groups Help Us Kick Off the Spring Season!

We’re grateful for enthusiastic local groups that joined us this past month at Camp Baker and PARK365. Genworth, James River Rotary Club, Publix, Capital One, Henrico County, EAB, and Virginia Credit Union all joined us for outdoor spring volunteer events. The spirit and energy these groups bring is incredible!

“We love working with SOAR365 and PARK365! There are so many opportunities for families that may have needs that you all can meet, and it is great to be even a small part of that. It is a great opportunity for our employees to engage with the community where we work," said Matthew Durden, Manager of Facilities at Genworth. "The park that has been created and maintained is such a great space, and it is nice knowing that I have been part of helping a space where my kids love to play. We are very thankful to have this partnership with SOAR365.”

Are you part of a corporate group, youth team or civic organization? You can roll up your sleeves and join in the fun by helping with landscaping, painting, cleaning, maintenance and construction projects. From mulching and weeding to planting and building, there’s so much to do at SOAR365!

Dustin Artz Brings the SOAR365 Experience Alive on Video!

The creative force behind SOAR365’s new volunteer appreciation video, Dustin Artz, learned about our organization after he responded to a post on local volunteer platform, CFengage, which connects volunteers with meaningful service and leadership opportunities to create positive change in our community.

Dustin says he has been fortunate to work on video production for SOAR365 – and, as an advertising professional, he hopes to help “spread the word” any way he can. He also appreciates the collaborative spirit he has experienced here. “Everyone who works at SOAR365 is not only super-competent and smart, but also kind,” he said. “The organization seems to attract some stellar people. It's been lovely working with them.”

Kathleen Rawls Develops STEAM Learning Cart for Youth Services

High school junior Kathleen Rawls believes that a STEAM curriculum (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) helps students develop life skills including problem-solving and creativity. She achieved the rank of Eagle Scout after working with SOAR365 Youth Services to develop a STEAM learning cart for program participants in middle school and high school.

Kathleen even developed a training manual and an assortment of materials used during educational activities. “When I was introduced to SOAR365, I researched the organization to learn about its mission and the opportunities provided through programs including Youth Services,” she said. “I’ve seen the benefits of hands-on learning and the growing emphasis on STEAM education, especially for youth. It is invaluable.”
