Math Computation Skills
|
 - The summer months give us added time to work on your child's math computation skills. We don't have to worry about homework or a math test coming up, so we have more time to work on this vital area.
Many students come to us without every having memorized their math facts or have difficulty with basic math skills like addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions. Students also forget math facts as they move into higher grade level when they need stronger math computation skills. Research shows that students who have weak computational skills and who have not mastered their math facts to memory will have great difficulty with more complex, challenging, and time-consuming math operations.
Our goal for your child in math is to get him/her 6 months to 1 year ahead of the class. Part of doing well in math is making sure your child has a strong foundation of computational math skill and memorized math facts. We will make sure your child has strong computational skills and commits math facts to memory by working on 3 or 4 math tests each time your child attends the center.

Increase your child's concentration, attention, span and focus
|  Children with Learning Disabilities often have concentration deficits and short attention spans. These children often function best in an environment where external stimulation and distractions are controlled and where there are clearly defined behavioral guidelines and performance standards, immediate feedback, affirmation for improved behavior, and individualized teaching strategies; all part of The Tutoring Center's method of Individualized One-to-One Direct Instruction.
Most importantly we combine intense One-to-One instruction with a tutoring system that physically increases concentration and attention span. This innovative system is called "The Rotational Approach to Learning".
