Pasta is Global

The global pasta market continues to grow. As an update, during the World Pasta Day event, two experts from Nielsen, Stefano Galli and Manzar Alam Khan, will deliver a presentation on international pasta market trends and opportunities. Mr. Galli will also focus on emerging trends, such as premiumization, while Mr. Khan will speak about pasta market trends and opportunities in the Gulf region. Additionally, Paolo Anselmi of GFK will discuss consumer perceptions of pasta in mature and emerging markets, including the Gulf countries.

Pasta Does Not Make You Fat

We look forward to the World Pasta Day presentations by  Drs. Sievenpiper and Kendall based on their new study, published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ). Dr. Sievenpiper  will outline how current evidence suggests that pasta may be highlighted as a low-GI food that - when consumed as part of a healthy low-GI dietary pattern, such as plant-based Mediterranean diet - can help people to achieve their cardiometabolic health goals.  The 'Low-Carbohydrate Diet' fad has brought renewed attention to the importance of carbohydrate quality of the diet. Dr. Kendall will discuss the BMJ research in this context, and discuss how  the new findings will help shape dietary guidelines that are less concerned with the proportion of macronutrients and are increasingly focusing on nutrient quality and dietary patterns.

Nutrition experts will also add their signatures to the Scientific Consensus Statement on the Healthy Pasta Meal.

Experiment with Pasta Fusion

Join us at WPD 2018 Dubai to explore traditional Middle Eastern pasta recipes.
Chef and Pre senter Mohammad Orfali, head of culinary at the Discovery Network's FATAFEAT TV, will pair pasta with traditional ingredients of the local cuisine, such as lentils, chickpeas, yogurt sauce and red pepper pesto.
In line with the overall theme of the event "Pasta is Tasty and Brings People Together", m ore pasta cooking demonstrations will be performed by t he  ICCA  Dubai Student Chefs from various nationalities & cultures, celebrating the inclusiveness of Pasta.

Stay  tuned for more info about featured presenters and Chefs. Next month, we'll also share recipes of these tasty dishes that you can prepare for family and friends on World Pasta Day and beyond.
