Your Habitat Greater Boston Newsletter

Spring 2024

Dear Habitat for Humanity Greater Boston,

Spring is the season of new beginnings; in that spirit, welcome to Habitat Greater Boston's newly redesigned e-newsletter! After a winter hiatus, we'll be back in your inbox with updates on the exciting new developments in our work to make affordable homeownership a reality for more Greater Boston families with low-to-moderate incomes.

And there's plenty to share! We recently welcomed two amazing families to their new homes in Mission Hill, and five more are well on their way to homeownership in Malden where two families have already completed their sweat equity hours.

We're anticipating a busy spring and summer as we work to complete construction in Malden and prepare to begin new projects in Boston and surrounding communities. This work is more important than ever, with the severe housing crisis in our region hitting more local families every day.

Keep an eye out for upcoming communications about exciting updates on our projects. It's friends like you who make this work possible through your continued support of our mission. Be sure to scroll all the way to bottom of this email to find out about all the ways you can contribute to building affordable homes for local families.

As always, please share this newsletter with anyone in your network who shares your dedication to building an even Greater Boston through affordable homeownership!

Welcome home!

Justine came to the United States with $5 in her pocket and a dream of one day owning her own home. Last fall, she and her new neighbors, Abdi and Hodan, celebrated that dream finally coming true, hosting a dedication ceremony at their newly completed Habitat Greater Boston homes in Mission Hill.

Sweat equity milestones

Dedication and positive attitudes are never in short supply on Habitat Greater Boston build sites, especially at our current project in Malden. Two of the five partner families helping to build their new homes have already completed 300 hours of sweat equity in record time.

Congratulations to Jimmy and Larbi on a job well done!

Every car on the road has a story. When it came time for Jennifer to decide the next chapter for her late mother's 1996 Volvo 850, Cars for Homes was the perfect vehicle.

Donating the Volvo to support affordable homeownership in Greater Boston felt like a fitting way for Jennifer to honor her mom, who did so much to raise and support her and her siblings.

At Habitat Greater Boston, we’re grateful to all the generous donors who make our work building affordable homes possible.

One that stands out is a particularly sweet donation from one of our youngest-ever donors: a 6-year-old supporter from Milton who decided to donate the proceeds from a lemonade stand “so people have homes.”
