Grandparents & Special Friends Day
|
On April 17, 2024, The Timothy School was filled with more love than usual, as grandparents and special friends visited the students.
The grandparents and special friends had the opportunity to visit their student's classroom, engage in a fun craft activity, make music together, and enjoy a snack.
Thank you to all of our guests for making the day extra special for all of us, especially the students.

The Timothy School ended the last full week of Autism Awareness & Acceptance Month with a delicious gift from Rubin, Fortunato & Harbison PC. The law firm provided a fantastic breakfast from Crocodile Cafe & Catering to honor our faculty and staff for their hard work and dedication. It was a perfect way to start an inservice day of team building exercises.
The breakfast was followed up by a visit from Patricia Tsipras, one of Rubin Fortunato's attorneys. Tricia took a tour of the school, presented a generous gift on behalf of the firm and could not resist purchasing some of the beautiful wreaths handmade by our students in The Timothy Crafters on-campus internship.
The Timothy School is grateful to everyone at Rubin, Fortunato & Harbison P.C. for their generosity and thoughtfulness.

One of The Timothy School's favorite events is the Annual Spring Concert. Thanks to our talented Music Therapist, Jake Mauersberg, our students put on a fantastic Disney-themed show. The feelings in the room are best expressed by one of our parents, Tia Schwab:
"Today was one of the greatest days of my life and proof angels live among us! To see the pure joy in your child’s eyes has to be the greatest Mother’s Day gift! I love this school and all the people who work so diligently to show our children love, respect, and presume competence in their ability to shine. It was a very special day."
Please enjoy the video and see if you can find Tia's son, Andy!

Music Therapy Is For Teachers, Too!
Jake Mauersberg also started a new Drum Circle program for teachers and staff.
Once a week, after school, teachers and staff are invited to join the Drum Circle to help provide stress relief and group cohesion.
Thank you, Jake, for sharing the benefits of music therapy with all of us at The Timothy School!

On-Campus Internship News
Vending Machine Management is one of The Timothy School's on-campus internships for our Middle and Secondary School students. It is also a favorite service for our teachers and staff so they can grab a snack or drink during their busy day.
Managing the vending machine teaches our students many important vocational skills that can be applied to their off-campus internships and future jobs.
The student interns are responsible for taking inventory of the vending machine, updating the data in the computer, collecting and counting the money, ordering new stock, and refilling the machine. Plus, all profits from vending machine sales are donated to The Timothy Fund!

One of the highlights of the day was the presentation of the the Paul Quinn Memorial Award. This award is given to an individual who has donated their time and service to the school over the years.
The recipient of this year's Paul Quinn Memorial Award was The Timothy School's physical education teacher, Missy Mundy!
As Sarah Greim stated, "Missy's volunteerism and dedication to the school made her the natural choice for this year's award during our final golf outing. Congratulations to Missy and thank you for all you've done, and continue to do, for The Timothy School!"
