HEAT Kindness Project
The Tampa Bay HEAT Kindness Project
Imagine having a rough day and finding a hand-painted rock with an uplifting message.  The HEAT will be creating inspirational rocks to bring smiles to the community.  There will be a basket of blank rocks at the Homeschool Resource Center.  Please take a rock or two (or use your own rocks!) to decorate and share your creation on our facebook page HEAT Rocks.  Keep reading for more details!

How Does It Work?

The Tampa Bay HEAT Kindness Project is a group created to track the journeys of our kindness rocks. How does it work?
- Be creative and paint rocks with encouraging words, Scriptures, your own artwork...the possibilities are endless! Check out painted rocks on Pinterest if you need inspiration! Just remember that we are a Christian homeschool group and so please make sure your artwork represents our group well and Christ well and there are no inappropriate pictures or hurtful words on them.
- On the bottoms of your rocks, be sure to put FB  #HEATRocks. That way, when people who find your rocks take a picture of their find, they will know to tag our page in their comment and you can see who you blessed! You can also see just how far your rock traveled!
- After your rocks are painted, be sure to seal them with a clear sealant so that, if they are left outside, the elements won't wash your artwork off.
- Do not attach things like buttons or sequins or other random objects to your rocks. Little ones who find them could choke on one of the added objects or the "extras" could come loose and litter the area you left your rock in.
- Take a picture of your rock before you hide it in the community and post it here so we can all be inspired by your creativity!
- Now it's time to hide your rocks, but don't hide them too well. We want them to be found. Leave them on grocery store shelves, maybe behind a bottle of laundry soap. Leave them at the park or in parking lots or at amusement parks or museums. Leave them near doctor's offices or hospital entrances. You choose! If you go on vacation, take them with you and leave them wherever you go. Maybe your rocks will be picked up by other travelers from all over the country and beyond!
- If you want to, you can leave clues on this page with the picture of your rock to make it more fun for the people searching for them. Make a poem or riddle and make it a challenge for the "hunters."
- The only places you cannot leave your rocks are in national or state parks, on military property, other people's yards or private property, and cemeteries. Also don't leave them in open fields or grass where a lawnmower could run them over and damage the mower. We don't want anyone to get hurt!
- And don't just paint and leave rocks for others! Start searching for your own kindness rocks around town. Be sure to take a picture of them when you find them and tag the group that painted them.
- You can keep the kindness rock you find or you can re-hide it for someone else to find after you have taken a picture and posted about it. For every rock you keep though, be sure to hide another one so everyone has a chance to be blessed by them.
- Make sure when you are looking for kindness rocks in your community, you do not take rocks from other people's yards. Those probably belong to them and we don't want to accidentally take someone else's property.
- Parents, this kindness project is not just for the kids! Get involved! Get creative! You never know who will find your rock and when they will find it. God may use it to encourage or bless someone at just the time they need it.
- Host a rock painting party at your home or even at the HEAT Resource Center! Spread the kindness!
