Q: What is your favorite CAS course?
My favorite CAS course so far has been Personal Health, HES 2913 with Dr. Yair Pincu. I had just made the transition from majoring psychology to health and exercise science, so I was a bit nervous for the class. However, it aligned more with my interests and I felt enlightened about all aspects of health when the class was over. Personal Health does not refer only to one’s physical well-being, but other important factors as well, such as the wellness of emotional, intellectual, economical, social and spiritual components of life. This class gave me the avenue I needed to obtain priceless knowledge about the beauty of the human mind and body. I think it is important for anyone pursuing a career in the medical field to be attentive and find ways to improve their personal health and emulate that comprehension on the individuals around them.
Q: What you love about CAS?
My favorite thing about CAS is by far the people I have met. I have been blessed to meet an extraordinary group of people that have my best interest at heart and I am proud to call them my family. They have accepted me with open arms, and I know that they are constantly in my corner and believe in me even when I don’t believe in myself.
Q: What are your summer plans?
My summer plans consist of being a resident advisor during the summer at Headington Hall while also juggling my jobs as a physical therapist technician and a non-clinical safety attendant at OU Medical Center. I am also taking two summer classes and I am a part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma program in which I mentor and spend quality time with a kid who struggles with being black.
Q: What are you looking forward to in the upcoming school year?
I'm most looking forward to just being able to sit in a classroom with other students and kind of "get back to normal." It's going to be a big readjustment both academically and socially, but I'm excited to get to experience the energy on campus again that's been missing with the pandemic.
