Farewell, Class of 2020 and 2021

The classes of 2020 and 2021 graduated this past weekend. While we are sad to see them go, there is no doubt in our hearts that they will go on to do amazing things in their careers. Congratulations graduates!

Student Spotlight: Alexandria Gray

Q: What is your favorite CAS course?

My favorite CAS Course is Queer Theory (WGS 3273) with Rae Langes. I loved this class because it really allowed me to explore and expand my understandings of gender and sexuality from both an academic and personal perspective. Studying the way that we as people feel and experience the world, as well as stressing the importance of an intersectional perspective, is so valuable to me as a student and as a person. Through that class I discovered theorists and authors who are so important to me now. I really appreciate when a class leads you to consider parts of it outside of the classroom, and taking Queer Theory with Rae Langes did just that in the most meaningful and practical ways.

Q: What you love about CAS/SSC?

A: I love the way that the Student Success Center celebrates people and cheers students on! It’s so encouraging to see that your college is not only proud of you but also that the people within are so supportive and truly want to see you succeed.

Q: What are your summer plans?

A: I am so excited for this summer! I’ll be staying in Norman, interning at an immigration law firm, and ideally I’d love to pick up more community service as well. Above all else, I am just the most excited to spend time with my friends and my family for my last summer in Norman.

Q: How are you incorporating self-care into your daily routine?

A: Self-care is so important to me, but also something that I really do need to work on. Right now, I’ve just been leaving my phone in my bedroom and trying to take some time to read. I also love to go on walks with my dog, Chicken Nugget; we try to go every day in the evening. I also love to watch the sunrise when I can catch it, but sunset walks are my favorite.
