Student Spotlight: Miguel Chavez

Q: What is your favorite CAS course?

A:My favorite class is Racial/Ethnic Minority Groups, SOC 3623, Dr. Perry. Although I didn't know it at the time, this course would ultimately serve as an integral building block for all my future undergraduate research projects and as the catalyst that motivated me to pursue a career in academia. This course equipped me with a foundational understanding of stratification systems within the United States and I frequently found myself looking back at my reading, lecture, and discussion notes throughout the remainder of my undergraduate career.

Q: What are you looking forward to upon graduation?

A:Throughout the past four years, my reading list on my phone has grown to an embarrassingly large number. I'm ecstatic to take some time before I begin my Ph.D. program in the fall to finally do some leisurely reading again.

Q: How do you destress?

A: I love to lay on a nice patch of grass and feel the sun kiss my face.
