Hello Again!

As we say goodbye to February (and hope that its ice storms don't follow us into March), we hope that you are looking forward to a new season full of possibilities!

This spring, the Student Success Center is delighted to welcome our terrific new student assistant, Anthony Kendrick, whose work on this newsletter will enable us to return to our regular bi-weekly distribution schedule. Welcome, Anthony!

Updates and Information

Commencement and Convocation Ceremonies

University-wide Spring Commencement Ceremonies will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 13, in the Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. For up-to-date information and instructions for graduates, families, and other attendees, see OU's official commencement page.

This year, the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences will celebrate the achievements of our graduating students on Saturday, May 14, at the Lloyd Noble Center. We will have two ceremonies, which will begin at 4 p.m. with the Humanities and Natural Sciences Convocation. The Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences Convocation for Professional Programs and Social Sciences will begin at 7:30 p.m. For more information and a list of majors that fall within each group, please click here.

Explainer: Research Experiences for Undergraduates

The National Science Foundation's Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program funds active research for undergraduate students across different domains in the natural and social sciences. Research institutions are encouraged to accept out-of-state students, and this program provides a stipend to support student travel and living expenses during the span of their research. Bonus tip: the Gaylord College Journalism and Mass Communication career fair is scheduled for March 1 at the Thurman J. White Forum Building. The Oklahoma Department of Commerce is seeking summer interns with a passion for public service and the economic prosperity of our state. This position also includes a valuable benefits package.

Paid, $15/hour.

Application deadline: March 4.

Undergrads who currently attend college in Oklahoma, Texas, Los Angeles, or Arizona are encouraged to apply for our five-day, all-expenses-paid Summer Academy, which will cover climate adaption and environmentalism.

All expenses paid.

Applications are now open for fall 2022 internships available on all campuses! I-CCEW offers consulting internships for OU students regardless of year or degree program. Learn how to become a problem-solving leader as you work with clients on real-world projects.

Application deadline: April 1; other deadlines exist for separate opportunities.

The Mystic Aquarium Research Summer REU - 10 weeks. Connects undergrad students with research mentors to investigate how global change affects marine animals and their ecosystems. Professional development seminars and interaction with aquarium staff.

This program at a Fortune 100 company is searching for juniors from our College of Arts and Sciences to fulfill a year-round internship in Oklahoma City.

Paid, $12/hr for 15-20 hrs per week

U.S. Geological Survey (U.S.G.S.)

The Oklahoma-Texas Water Science Center

Federal internship seeking a paid student trainee in hydrology. STEM majors are preferred, and the schedule is year-round.

Paid, $32,283 per year.
