Q: What is your favorite CAS course?
My favorite CAS course so far has been Introduction to Biochemistry (CHEM 3653) with Dr. Najar! Initially, I was intimidated to take the course from everything I had heard about the intense workload and difficult subject material, but Dr. Najar's style of teaching the biochemistry of the human body with an almost artistic perspective left me constantly in awe and motivated to learn more. Even in the most complex and dense of biochemical processes he emphasized the value–both practical and aesthetic–of everything. Delving deep into the many intricate internal mechanisms that produce the world we experience gave me an appreciation of just how fascinating and involved a phenomenon life is. Having a sense of wonder about how the body works is something I think is very important for students like me that one day aim to become doctors and this class did a great job of instilling that in me. I definitely recommend this course!
Q: What you love about CAS?
My favorite thing about CAS is just how student oriented the whole community is! It really feels like there is a genuine interest from our college to help our students grow both academically and personally.
Q: What are your summer plans?
My summer plans include reviewing and interviewing applicants to join the team at the OU Food Pantry, which serves OU students and staff at no cost. I'm very excited to see our team grow and continue to work to uplift all at our school. I will also be studying for my MCAT over the summer plan to take it before the school year starts again.
Q: What are you looking forward to in the upcoming school year?
I'm most looking forward to just being able to sit in a classroom with other students and kind of "get back to normal." It's going to be a big readjustment both academically and socially, but I'm excited to get to experience the energy on campus again that's been missing with the pandemic.
