In continuation of FOCUS USA’s three-part series highlighting the search and rescue women volunteers with the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat in northern Pakistan.
Second up, we meet Shamim, a second-generation SART member who helped link the transition from the past to a brighter future for women in her community. Describing what motivated her to join the search and rescue team, Shamim recalls how she experienced events where “people would allow women to die in a disaster rather than be carried and rescued by men who were not family members.”
