What a Busy Summer for SJPDS!
We hosted 5 summer camps and awarded 8 summer Professional Development Mini Grants for faculty (Tech updates/resources, STEM, Science, Social Studies, Writing across the curriculum, Kindergarten rubrics, as well as enhanced our Chapel, Project Based Learning (PBL) and Interdisciplinary Units). Way to go, Faculty!
For our physical plant updates, we painted and redecorated the Media Center, installed 5 x 20 inch windows in Early Childhood classrooms doors (one per classroom). Also, we repainted/refreshed many areas including the outdoor parking lines, enhanced the Outdoor Classroom with write and wipe magnetic boards, the Eagle Scouts installed new benches and we are working on a musical soundboard made from old pots! The STEM Lab mounted a large wall Lego board area to promote creativity and independent thinking. Additionally, several administrative offices replaced their carpet and beautiful display cases were donated for the Main Lobby area to further enhance our school. (thank you to Ms. Andrea Guenschel).

Outdoor Classroom in Action!
Mrs. Yates' Fourth Grade class has been busy learning outdoors this week in our new and improved Outdoor Classroom! Our Bears kicked off their Rocks, Soil, and Landforms unit in our wonderful outdoor space and spent time identifying different rocks and learning about soil. Later on, they joined Mrs. Moulding in the Outdoor Classroom to perform skits about about our Guiding Code of Conduct, the 5 B's: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Kind, Be Ready to Learn, and Be Safe. Nature is very important to us and the Outdoor Classroom has become a favorite place for our students (and teachers!) to learn and spend time in a beautiful outdoor environment. Go Bears!
