July 2022
Hello Friend,

It’s hard to believe we are already halfway through the year. As an organization, we recently took a short break to reset, reflect and relax. We have been going full steam ahead and wanted to take the time to thoughtfully think and plan for the next part of the year. Right before our break, we recognized the 23rd session of Cooking for Salud®. Graduates celebrated by sharing their ‘ah-ha’ moments during the program and their plans to continue on their health journey moving forward. This group of new Kitchenistas® are excited to get out in the community to share their knowledge with others. And, there is more exciting news for the film The Kitchenistas. The Kitchenistas documentary will soon be available widely any time, any day, and one click away on Apple TV, Google Play, and VUDU!

Watch out for our social media and the film @thekitchenistasmovie for the release announcement this July. Please watch, encourage others to watch, and rate the film on the channel and on IMDB. If you're interested in a private screening, please get in touch!

We continue to be grateful to each of you who supports Olivewood in so many ways. We hope to see you, your family, and friends at our upcoming Day of Play event on July 30.

With gratitude,

Thank you, Jackie!
With grateful hearts, we would like to share that our wonderful Coordinator of Volunteers and Outreach of 3.5 years, Jacqueline Ante, will be leaving us at the end of the month. If you've ever had the privilege of meeting Jackie, you know that she is a woman of incredible kindness, love, vision, thoughtfulness, creativity, and fun. She brought amazing organization and growth to Olivewood's Volunteer, Internship, and Kitchenistas programs. She went out of her way to support team members and community members. She developed strong relationships with partner organizations, represented Olivewood and the Kitchenistas - as a Generation 10 Kitchenista - throughout the community, and developed new and impactful programs. She played silly pranks, kept us smiling with jokes, and brought a whole lot of joy and love to Olivewood.

Thanks for being you, Jackie, and we can't wait to continue to grow together in different ways.

Please join us in sharing gratitude and well wishes to Jackie!

SDG&E Tips
Adjust your thermostat this summer and help prevent outages
Want to help prevent outages this summer and help make our energy grid stronger for all Californians? SDG&E’s Power Saver Rewards program compensates participants who can lower their electricity use when demand for energy is the highest. If you’re eligible and can reduce your energy use between the peak hours of 4 pm and 9 pm when a Power Saver Event is called, you can help relieve the grid and receive a bill credit. So, what actions can you take to save energy if you’re enrolled in the program?

You can start by adjusting the thermostat in your home or shutting it off when it’s not in use. Simply set your air conditioner to 78 degrees or higher in the summer and save up to 12% on cooling costs. Additionally, you can invest in a smart thermostat to help you manage your home’s temperature even when you’re away. Participation in the Power Saver Rewards program is entirely voluntary and there’s no penalty if you are unable to conserve energy. Not only will you save on your monthly energy bill, but you will also be
contributing to the environment.

To learn more about SDG&E’s Power Saver Rewards program and enroll if you aren’t already participating, visit sdge.com/powersaver or call the Power Saver Rewards program call center at (866) 291-9516
