Hello
Everyone,
I have returned home
from my Ayurvedic Consultant Training with my certificate in hand.
I am pictured here receiving my certificate from Davidji, one of my
teachers and the Dean of Chopra Center University. The last 7
months have been an amazing journey. I look forward to sharing
what I have learned with all of you in the coming year.
This month we practice the Law of
Giving and Receiving. Apply this law by making a commitment to
take the following steps:
-
Wherever I go, and whoever I encounter, I will bring them a
gift. The gift may be a compliment, a flower, or a prayer. I will
give something to everyone I come in contact with, and so I will
begin the process of circulating joy, wealth and affluence in my
life and in the life of others.
- I will gratefully receive all the
gifts that life has to offer me. I will receive the gifts of
nature: sunlight and the sound of birds singing, or spring showers
or the first snow of winter. I will also be open to receiving from
others, whether it be in the form of a material gift, money, a
compliment, or a prayer.
- I will make a commitment to keep
wealth circulating in my life by giving and receiving life's most
precious gifts: the gift of caring, affection, appreciation, and
love. Each time I meet someone I will silently wish them
happiness, joy, and laughter.*
Join me in celebrating this season of giving and receiving.
Safe Travels,
Karen

Almond Bark
Abigail Johnson Dodge serves up a holiday
treat.
With only four ingredients, this candy
comes together quickly and easily, and makes a beautiful holiday
gift. And don't worry, it resembles its namesake only in
appearance, not in flavor. There are a lot of ways to vary a
bittersweet chocolate bark, but I love how smoked almonds lend a
salty contrast and a bit of campfire flavor to the sweet caramel.
Abigail Johnson Dodge is the author of Desserts 4 Today (Taunton
Press, 2010).
Ingredients:
4 ounces semisweet chocolate,
melted
6 small caramels
6 small caramels
 cup chopped smoked
almonds
1 ounce white chocolate,
melted
Directions:
1. Line cookie sheet with a nonstick
liner or waxed paper. Pour melted chocolate onto liner and spread
evenly into a 7 inch round.
2. Put caramels in small bowl and
add 1 teaspoon of water. Melt in microwave until it boils, stir
until smooth. Drizzle caramel in a zigzag pattern over chocolate
and lightly swirl together with tip of knife.
3. Sprinkle almonds over top,
pressing nuts gently into chocolate. Drizzle white chocolate in a
zigzag pattern over the nuts. Chill cookie sheet in fridge until
firm. Cut into jagged pieces, serve cold.
