Hello Saxon Families,
It is hard to believe that the calendar has flipped over to May. The year is flying by. (Just a reminder to all you with mothers...Mother’s Day is this Sunday, so make sure you have everything dialed in and ready to go!) As Mother’s Day approaches, along with other spring holidays, our Spring sports season is wrapping up. I would like to say thank you to all the coaches and parents who gave up many hours to cheer on their children, running them to and from practices and games, and bringing any forgotten items to school so that they could compete. You are truly amazing people.
Here's a quick run-down of what our spring athletes have been up to:
Boys Soccer
Our Boys’ Soccer team started the season with over 80 athletes showing up for try-outs! It was great to have several teams this season so every student who tried out could play. Our Varsity Soccer team made it to the District Playoffs this year and lost two heartbreaking Playoff games, ending their season. All our Soccer teams had several impressive victories. We are excited for the future of Boys' Soccer.
Boys and Girls Track
Our Boys and Girls Track teams have been sprinting, jumping, and throwing their way to victory this Spring. With dedication and determination, they've been breaking personal records and shining in every event they compete in. Both of our Track teams are currently preparing for Districts with the hope of continuing to the State Track and Field meet. Good luck Boys and Girls Track.
Boys and Girls Golf
Now off to the course. On the greens and fairways, our Boys and Girls Golf teams have been teeing off with precision and finesse. Their hard work on the course is paying off, as they showcase their talent and sportsmanship in each match. Today, May 9th, our teams are golfing at the city championship at Kalispel Golf and Country Club. Good luck, Boys and Girls Golf.
Baseball
Our Baseball teams were swinging for the fences this season, delivering powerful hits and solid defensive plays. We had close to 65 baseball players turnout for America’s favorite pastime and were able to accommodate these players with 4 teams. With each game, our athletes demonstrated their passion for the sport and their commitment to representing our school with pride. Ferris Baseball is ready to come back strong next year as we just missed the Playoffs this season. We are proud of all our Baseball teams for their effort this season.
Girls Fastpitch Softball
The Girls Fastpitch Softball teams had close to 75 athletes displaying exceptional pitching, hitting, and fielding skills at different points throughout the season. Their competitive spirit and dedication to the game were evident as they faced off against tough opponents and secured several impressive victories. It came down to the last week for our Varsity Fastpitch Team and they just missed out on the district Playoffs. Good job, ladies! We can’t wait for next season.
Boys and Girls Tennis
On the court, our Boys and Girls Tennis teams are serving up victories with skill and determination. Their strategic plays and unwavering focus make them formidable opponents as they compete against rival schools. Both our Boys and Girls Varsity Tennis teams are currently competing in the District Tennis Playoffs and are looking to move on to the State Championship later this month in both Doubles and Singles. Keep going strong, Boys and Girls Tennis.
Something else to look forward to is Spokane Schools night at Spokane Velocity! Mark your calendar for May 25 at 6:00 pm. Purchase your $16 tickets at Spokane Velocity - Ferris Tickets.
As the Spring sports season comes to an end and as we enter into testing season, let's rally behind all our students. Please take time to encourage our student-athletes who are moving on to District and State competitions, cheering them on to success both on and off the field. We are all proud of our Spring student- athletes for showing championship attitude and effort.
