This week, our Racial Justice Ministry will have HATE HAS NO HOME HERE lawn signs available. Let us stand up to the presence of racism and white supremacy. JULY MAG:
Covenant to Care School Supply Drive
Outreach and Witness is thrilled to announce the launch of our Annual School Supply Drive for Covenant to Care. This is a chance for each one of us to come together and provide essential tools for a successful academic journey for children in (grades pre-k -12).
We need the following donations of school supplies or if you prefer, you can make a monetary donation through our Scrip program or Vanco.
*crayons notebooks *#2 pencils pens *erasers *folders *pencil sharpeners *colored pencils
*washable markers *tissues (small packages) *highlighters pencil boxes/bags *Post-It notes
Outreach & Witness will purchase the backpacks for the children. If you're interested in personally filling a backpack for a specific child, we can make that happen. If you love back-to-school shopping, we can always use help. We'll collect supplies during the month of July. Backpacks will be assembled on August 18th.
For any questions, please contact the members of the Outreach & Witness Committee or Christine K. at: ckainamura@gmail.com.

June 26, 2024 Note from Facilities
We've just received updated proposals from two solar companies for our solar project. We are reviewing the proposals as fast as possible since we want to apply for the next round of Connecticut’s NRES program, which begins August 1, 2024. Based upon the large over-subscription to the previous two rounds of this program, it is critical that we submit a bid on August 1, 2024. We have a few questions for both companies which we want to address in the next week. We have reduced the size of our project to facilitate getting state approval; we are proposing a system that just matches our 12-month power consumption. Both new quotes are less than the cost that we presented to the congregation on January 28, 2024. That proposal had a gross cost of $126,984, with a net cost after rebate of $88,889. Although we expect to make some small adjustments to the current proposals, we expect the quotes to have a net cost of $55,000 to $65,000. Besides reducing our carbon footprint, the project is expected to pay for itself in about 10 years. The new proposals use fewer solar panels than the earlier proposals, with panels on the east face of the 1993 roof and south face of the 1952-53 roof. If you have any questions, contact Ed C. or Dave S.

HELP WANTED - Childcare Provider Position
Faith Formation is looking to fill the Childcare Provider opening in the toddler room on Sunday mornings during service, (approximately 2 hours per week). There may also be an occasion to provide childcare for other church events. This is a paid position and will report to Pastor Lauren Dube-Scott. We desire to either find someone within the congregation or a recommendation from you, for someone you feel would be a good candidate. Anyone serving in this position must be 18 years of age or older. If we can't find anyone interested in this position, then Personnel will look outside of our walls. If you know of anyone or want more information, please contact Deb C., at deb.copes@gmail.com or call me at 860-729-6541.

Passing the Baton
After serving as the Financial Secretary, and due to our impending move south, I'll be stepping down from this role. I am pleased to announce that Holli B. will be assuming the role effective July 1st. Holli and I will work together for a couple of months, but I am certain she'll learn the ropes very quickly, will excel at the role, and will bring her own improvements to the table! Please join me in wishing Holli congratulations! ~Deb C.
