Gene Drive Modified Organisms (GDMOs) are now regulated

Regulations pertaining to Gene Drive experiments are outlined in the April 2024 revision to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Science Policy's Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant and Synthetic Nucleic Acid Molecules. The regulations go into effect September 2024. If you have questions, contact RIA's Institutional Biosafety Committee.

Office of Research and Project Administration (ORPA)


Responsible Conduct of Research training now required for faculty with NSF or USDA grant funding

Training is now available for faculty and senior personnel who receive funding from an NSF grant submitted or due on or after July 31, 2023, or receive a grant from USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA). Read the memo on the ORPA website for more information.


Indirect Cost Rate

The indirect cost rate is now 64% as of July 1, 2024. Learn more about this change in the May 10th ORPA News & Communications memo. The change has been applied to the newly updated sponsored project rate and information sheet and University Rate Agreement.


Fringe Benefit Rate

The fringe benefits rate is now 36.4% as of July 1, 2024, per the new University Rate Agreement


New Faculty Summer Salary Form

A new faculty summer salary form is now available on the Office of the Dean of the Faculty website that includes reminders in response to increased scrutiny by federal sponsors of appropriate management and fulfillment of committed effort in research. 


Uniform Grant Guidance (UGG)

Changes are coming to the Uniform Grant Guidance (UGG) for this Fall. Please continue to prepare and submit proposal budgets aligning with current policies and procedures until a formal rollout of UGG revisions has been communicated. See the NCURA Uniform Guidance changes overview.


Administrator Research Certification (ARC) program

Enrollment is now open for ORPA's professional development program tailored to individuals new or interested in a career in sponsored research administration. Apply by July 31 for the program beginning in September via the ARC program page.


Grants Management Support Services (GMSS) open to all campus departments

GMSS, previously ORPA Shared Services, offers expanded grant services to all campus departments including ad-hoc proposal submission support, short-term grants manager coverage and more. For details and assistance, email grantsupport@princeton.edu
