What would inspire you to change the world?  To fight for your children?  For their future?  For other parents?

If you are a parent, one look at your children and you have the answer.

"Most mothers would give up their own lives to save their children's lives," says Barbara Loe Fisher, co-founder and president of the National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC).  "It is a biological imperative, a gift we have been given that ensures the survival of the human race.  As women and mothers, we should not be afraid to empower ourselves with information and defend our natural right as mothers to protect our children from harm."

In 1980 Barbara's oldest son, Chris, suffered brain inflammation after his fourth DPT shot that left him with multiple learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder.  "Chris was so healthy and developmentally advanced as a baby and toddler," she recounts.  "He suffered what was termed 'minimal brain damage' but it required him to be put in a classroom for the learning disabled until he was 18 years old."  In 1982, Barbara co-founded the non-profit charity, the  National Vaccine Information Center.  NVIC operates the oldest and largest consumer-operated vaccine information website on the internet.  The NVIC website is a clearinghouse for referenced information on infectious diseases and vaccines and features print and video commentaries on vaccine policy, ethics and law. 

Barbara's personal experience, her love for her three children, and the understanding that mothers have an innate instinct to protect their children, has driven her to fight for  vaccine choice advocacy despite public criticism from powerful adversaries in the pharmaceutical industry, medical trade associations and government for three decades. 

On Saturday, October 13, 2012, we are honoring three decades of work and featuring Barbara Loe Fisher as a Keynote Speaker at the 2012 Natural Living Conference.  Her tireless work on behalf of children and parents are an inspiration for all about the power of just one mom.
