PLENUM

May 2024 · Vol 39 · NO. 6

Summer hit! It took a little longer than normal for the heat and humidity to arrive but it’s making up for lost time. Recently House Bill 481 was signed by the Governor. This bill goes into effect July 1, 2024 and states that all HVAC manufacturers shall provide a 10 year limited parts warranty with no product registration requirement. I am paraphrasing of course but this sums it up nicely. I believe this is good news after many years of manufactures trying to get their arms around the warranty issue. The process of registering for a full warranty to be effective left them with some breakage and no doubt helped reduce their limited warranty exposure; albeit, at the expense of our clients. This should alleviate some of the frustration during the warranty process. Click here to read the bill.

As we are busy with work, I wanted to remind you that our annual fishing tournament is upon us. The Captains meeting is on Thursday, June 6th at 6 pm. We will be meeting at the Rafiki Tiki, in the Riviera Beach Marina. The tournament is this Saturday, June 8th, with boats checking in at 7 am. We still have some sponsorship open if you would like to sponsor a part of our tournament.

We are using this Captain’s meeting as our General Meeting for June as well, so we will be combining both events into one. Our next General Meeting will be the FACAA Graduation on August 1st. Please plan on attending to honor the graduating class!

Also new this summer is a fresh look to The Plenum. We kept much of the traditional format while moving forward with a fresh style. Take a peek at this edition and send Alexa your feedback. I hope you all have a safe and prosperous summer. It is hot out there, please take care of yourself in the heat by staying hydrated, remember if you stop sweating, it’s not because you are not working hard enough....you are dehydrated.

I hope to see you all at the Fishing Tournament.

Tight lines to all participants,

Kelly McCann, PBACCA President

Why do AC Coils Freeze Up?

When AC coils freeze, it may be due to a lack of airflow, improper draining, or a refrigerant leak. AC coils, also called evaporator coils, are among the main components of your AC unit. Click here to read more about common causes.

Technicians, check out this short video to three problems that can cause a Frozen Evaporator Coil and troubleshooting tips.
